Brussels will get electric bike share system

Electric bicycles are becoming more and more popular in Brussels and worldwide. As a result, a new e-bike sharing scheme will be launched in the capital from September.

Two years ago, the Minister of Mobility Pascal Smet noted that riding a bicycle in Brussels is facing problems with the infrastructure and many hills of the city. Pascal suggested using an electronic bicycle as a possible solution. The city will finally approve the project of using electric bikes.

The first bikes will be available in Ixelles, Etterbeek and part of the city centre, reports Bruzz which talked with the founders Pierre De Schaetzen and Guillaume Verhaeghe.

Users can track the nearest parked bicycle via the app (which also provides the code to unlock the bicycle) and return it to the designated area. Use of the e-bike costs €0.15 per minute, and payment is made by credit card.
