Obtaining EU Citizenship

An EU citizen’s passport is a document that gives its holder the right to permanent residence, employment, and education in any of the EU member states. In addition, EU citizenship opens the borders of various states and grants its owner a certain status.

An applicant will have to face various difficulties and a long waiting period. Our company is ready to select an individual solution for each client. We will help you overcome obstacles and accompany you at every stage.

European passport – difficult, but possible

There are many ways to obtain EU citizenship, but in most cases, it is expensive and/or takes a very long time. Usually, the path from a residence permit to permanent residency and then citizenship takes 5-7 years, and in some states, the naturalization procedure takes up to 15 years.

The simplest way to obtain European citizenship is to “buy” a passport through investment or real estate acquisition.

Currently, the most convenient programs are provided by Cyprus and Malta.

Cyprus and Malta

Cyprus offers permanent residency for purchasing real estate worth 300 thousand EUR. For investments of 2 million EUR or more, citizenship can be obtained here. While the naturalization process on general grounds takes up to 7 years, the investment procedure takes no more than 1 year.

Malta’s migration laws also offer favorable investment conditions. A residence permit can be obtained here for the purchase of a property worth 350 thousand EUR. For Maltese citizenship, more significant investments are needed – a 650 thousand EUR non-refundable contribution to the National Social Development Fund. Malta’s investment program was initially limited to 1,800 passports. Therefore, it was scheduled to end by July 30, 2020.

The simplest but most expensive way for Russians to acquire EU citizenship is the Cypriot program. It is the most popular one.

Belgium

Obtaining citizenship in EU countries is possible through acquiring Belgian citizenship. There is no program for obtaining citizenship through investment here. A residence permit can be obtained in two ways:

Initially, it is necessary to obtain a work permit through the Single Permit or Professional Card procedure, apply for a D visa, and then apply for a residence permit card upon arrival in Belgium. It is subject to renewal. After 5 years, you can apply for permanent residency and citizenship. Language proficiency of at least level A2 and a valid registration address for at least 5 years are required.

Luxembourg

Citizenship in EU countries can also be obtained through a Luxembourg passport. In addition to the long process of naturalization, the country’s migration program provides three other options for obtaining a residence permit:

  1. Starting a company.
  2. Placing a bank deposit.
  3. Studying at a university.

Our company will help you prepare and submit documents for any option. Thanks to our support, you can obtain citizenship 6 years after your first visit to Luxembourg. It is important to pass a language exam (level A2) at the final stage.

The Luxembourg government monitors the stay of citizenship applicants in the state.

Therefore, you should be prepared for regular visits from authorities and neighbor surveys. Having a mailbox from which mail is collected regularly is also important.

Passport Power

Citizens of all countries are not on equal terms regarding free movement and passport influence. The Henley Passport Index demonstrates the privileges a passport holder from a European state receives:

State Visa-free destinations Passport Ranking
Belgium 184 8
Greece 184 8
Cyprus 174 16
Luxembourg 187 5
Malta 183 9
Portugal 185 7
Romania 172 17

Luxembourg has the highest passport power.
